29 Weeks

I can't believe how time is flying by!  We are scheduled to close on our house on Friday, so that is exciting!

This week your baby is a little over 15 inches long—about the length of a loaf of bread—and weighs about 3 pounds, as much as a Macbook Air laptop.

28 Weeks

We are now officially in our third trimester!!!  (Sources vary about when each trimester starts)

During this week, your baby will grow another one-half inch in size. Your babe is downright chubby compared to a few weeks ago. She is about 15 inches long, about the length of an amusement park cinnamon-sugar-coated churro (yum!), and weighs 2 to 3 pounds.

When you are 28 weeks pregnant, your baby is now sleeping and waking at normal intervals. Generally, your activity throughout the day will lull him or her to sleep, and being sedentary at night gives him or her a chance to wake up and be active!  (She LOVES to dance around when I'm trying to go to sleep at night!!!)

Other fetal development that is occurring around week 28 of pregnancy includes the following:
Brain tissue continues to develop
The folds and grooves of your baby's brain continue to develop and expand
The baby begins to dream
The eyes open and close
Eyebrows and eyelashes are present
Your baby has about 2 to 3 percent body fat, and his or her muscle tone is increasing
Although lungs are still immature, they are capable of sustaining life in the event of a premature birth (with some medical help).

27 Weeks

We are now 27 weeks pregnant!  Time is flying by and we are in escrow on our first house!

We went to Coronado's dog beach yesterday with Janelle and Priscilla and my belly got a bit too much sun!

Baby's lungs and immune system are maturing this week as baby prepares for her grand entrance. If she were born today she would have an 85 percent chance of surviving as her lungs are capable of breathing air (with medical assistance, of course).

Baby's done a lot of growing over the past few months. Her length has more than doubled in the past 15 weeks! And that's not the only thing growing—baby's brain tissue and neurons are all developing at a rapid pace. Her brain waves are now firing away just like those of a newborn baby.

Your baby now weighs in at approximately 14½ inches and just over 2 pounds.

26 Weeks

Here's what is going on this week:

As hearing continues to develop, your baby will start to recognize your voice. One hint that your karaoke rendition of "Baby Got Back" is not the best would be when the baby starts banging on your gut. Your bambina will also start to recognize your partner's voice. He may feel silly talking to your stomach, but assure him that somebody other than you is definitely listening. Research has shown that newborns actually recognize familiar sounds after birth. Proof that your baby has been paying attention all along.

Break out the sparkling apple juice—baby has now completed two-thirds of her stay in Hotel Womb. Your baby is about 1 2/3 pounds and is 14 inches long head-to-heel, or about the length of a burp cloth (otherwise known as your primary wardrobe accessory for the next several months).
